Children's Ministry | Teen Ministry
Young adults from grades 7 - 12 stay with their parents in the sanctuary for the service.
We love these young men and women and believe that the best place for them on Sunday morning is with their parents experiencing the service. Too many teens graduate from high energy, fun-filled youth groups and never make a successful transition to the sanctuary as adults.
By immersing these young men and women in the service we hope to help them become comfortable with 'adult style' worship and teaching, and also afford the family a chance to worship together.
We believe that God has directed the leaders of the church to "equip the saints for the work of the ministry" (Eph 4:11-12), and that one of the most important ministries of parents is to disciple their children. We hope to equip you for this foundational ministry in three ways:
- Providing Resources
After sharing a common experience on Sunday morning, the family is able to discuss the meaning of the message and its application throughout the week as they grow in Christ together. Each sunday, Paster Jeff publishes a set of "Reflection Notes" that can be used to spark these conversations based on the sermon at the dinner table or while you drive.
We are also working on compiling a list of helpful resources for parent-teen issues and parenting in general. If you ever have a specific question or are in need of prayer or counsel, please do not hesitate to seek out one of these pastors - we are here to support you.
- Providing Opportunities
As important as we think it is for teens to be in the sanctuary on Sunday morning, we also understand that they are at a very difficult time in their lives and face some unique challenges as they grow. So, in order to address teen-specific issues and provide fellowship opportunities with other teenage believers, we make a variety of regional youth retreats and camps available throughout the year.
- Praying for the Future
As Jeasus grows our fellowship, we hope to see Him raise-up a shepherd with a heart to minister to our teens, someone to support what these young people are already learning from their parents and provide another spiritually mature voice in their lives.
Teenagers today seem to face an overwhelming series of challenges, requirements, trials and temptations. For that reason, we at Calvary Chapel DC Metro believe that will benefit from being a part of the larger congregation as we worship Jesus and receive His Word - in light of what these young men and women face, it's their only hope.
